Socorro was preceded in death by her son, Vincent Gutierrez Jr. Surviving are one daughter, Linda (Victor Jr.) Guerra grandchildren, Victor Ruben (Monica) Guerra, David Allen (Fiancé Tara Hayes) Guerra, Sonny Vincent (Raquel Benavidez) Guerra, and Vincent Gutierrez great-grandchildren, Vanessa (Rob) Guerra, Victor Antonio Guerra, Aurora (Christopher Geese) Garza, Vincent (fiancé Mackenzie) Gutierrez, Anabella Gutierrez, Anjali Gutierrez, Aubrey Gutierrez, Liliana Marie Guerra, Madi Desisto, Elizabeth Beldyga, and Cruz Vincent Guerra great great-grandchildren, CJ Geese, Jackson Geese, Violet Geese, and many nieces and nephews. But, what she really loved most was seeing and spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Socorro also enjoyed playing cards, especially poker. She enjoyed spending time shopping at Macy's. Socorro took great pride in her accomplishment of becoming a United States Citizen. She was also very active with American Legion Post #500 for many years. Socorro was a faithful and active member of the First Mexican Baptist Church of Saginaw. She worked for Saginaw County as a translator and offered her services to the area migrant workers and the community. Socorro worked at General Motors during World War II, where she supported the war effort by helping to produce parts for airplanes. She graduated from Saginaw High School and became one of the first Hispanics to be employed by Saginaw General Hospital, where she worked as a Nurse's Aide for many years in the emergency room. In 1947 she married Vincent Lopez Gutierrez in Saginaw. Socorro was born Apin Tampico, Mexico to the late Ruben Garcia and Carmen (Torrez) Garcia. Passed away on Thursday morning, Apat Great Lakes Rehab Center in Kochville Township. ![]()
